Dear Family and Friends,
One of these years we may put out a Christmas letter before the 25th, but this was another busy year for our family and well just make the best of our year end letter and include pictures from Christmas day. It was a special one. More on that later.
Patty completed her 1st year of residency in June at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown. Mike passed 15 years at NASA in August (that means more vacation time!). The kids continued to enjoy many of their favorite activities this year, such as dance (Megan), soccer (Allen), piano (Andy) and band (all 3). Yes, Allen started band this year as he moved up to 6th grade at Seabrook Intermediate School. Megan also moved up a school to Clear Lake High as Andy entered his senior year.

Andy earned the honor of being one of 3 drum majors selected to lead their 300 piece band (its a big high school!). Andy and Megan got lots of exercise marching in the fall, as the football team made it all the way to state semi-finals. The rest of us spent many Fridays and Saturdays watching the excitement.

In early July, after a few days of visiting with out of town Bohn cousins who came to Texas, Mike, Megan and Allen flew to Minnesota for an Ewert family reunion. Patty stayed to work and Andy was off to drum major camp. The 3 travelers had a great time seeing aunts and uncles and many cousins. Activities included a weiner roast, a hay ride down to Ewert creek, wandering around the farm and a hog roast.

Our big project around the house this year was to convert our attic into a TV room (a.k.a. home theater since we got a projector TV and surround sound for Christmas last year). Some friends who are contractors handled most of the construction work, but the project still wore us out with design details and the computer and wiring system that Andy put in. By the time Andys birthday rolled around (Halloween), we were glad to start enjoying it, and the kids have had friends over quite often for movies ever since.

Pattys mom spent many nice months at our house over spring and into the summer, although she also made several trips to the hospital due to heart and breathing problems. She got to spend one last Thanksgiving with her family before she went home to the Lord on December 7th at the age of 82. We miss her greatly.

That brings us to Christmas, which seemed to come and go quickly, as did the entire year. Patty had to work long hours right up until Christmas, but we did have a nice Christmas Eve celebration with the Ewerts in Galveston. Then, as we drove back to Clear Lake for midnight mass, it began to snow! After church when we got home, we had to play in it for a while since this was the first Christmas snow of our lives. In the morning we had a nice time opening presents at home, made another snowman and then headed to Galveston for the Bohn family gathering. They had 5 of snow compared to 1 at our house. We had a wonderful, white Christmas!

A Texas snowman! This was after all the snow on the ground had melted.
We hope that you had a very merry Christmas 2004 and that you will have a wonderful 2005! We thank God for you.
Love,
Mike, Patty, Andy, Megan and Allen Ewert |
