January 2014

Hello to our dear friends and family,

It's hard to say who has had the most changes this year, so we will start with Megan. She has been living in Dublin, Ireland since March as part of a post-graduate work visa. The idea is to soak up as much culture as you can, and she has been actively pursuing this in every pub. Just kidding! But she has also had the opportunity to share her culture. She prepared a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for her Irish friends, who had never heard of pecan or pumpkin pies!

Andy had the opportunity to go (with Patty) to visit Megan in April, after his work on Star Trek Into Darkness was completed. It's hard to say what he enjoyed most: visiting the island our family is from (Cape Clear) and meeting distant Cadogan relatives, or eating the delicious scones. This past August, after much contemplation, he decided to leave his job in San Francisco and move back to Texas. He is currently working in web development.

Allen says if anyone wants to know what he's up to, just read last year's family update, haha. But actually, he hit a birthday milestone this year - 21! Sadly, his car was totaled when someone rear-ended him and shoved his car into the car ahead of him. But no worries... he was uninjured. Also, he proposed a Kickstarter project that was successfully funded - and he is happily making interesting wood projects with his new lathe.

As for Patty and Mike, probably our biggest news is that we FINALLY found a property in Central Texas that we can retire on. We've been actively looking for 6 years (and dreaming ever since we left Austin in 1988). So when will we be moving? Hmmmmm... Mike also hit a birthday milestone: the big 5-0. He got his chance to visit Megan in July and together they toured some of the most important places in London and Paris, including the Mona Lisa, the Eiffel Tower and Platform 9¾.

We are thankful that this past year has been prosperous and healthy and filled with love & we wish the same for all of you!

Love,
Megan, Allen, Andy, Mike & Patty
